(why do I keep doing this)

I’m always curious to see what will be my next terrible grammar trap. Currently, I have a thing for parentheses all over the place, which started in my journal and crept into all of my other writing to the point that I had to actually add a postscript at the end of my English essay apologizing for the “frightful parenthetical.” Before this… hm. I’ve always had a run-on sentence fixation. I’ve been through several of the LJ bad habits – letting sentences fade into tiny type, writing without pronouns, spacing everything with …’s or –‘s or whatever, using “etc.” far too often, putting, commas, everywhere, putting commas nowhere, abbreviating everything (though never LOL – I can’t explain it, I have nothing against it, I just don’t use it out of habit), putting !’s between everything (exclamatory!Jenn), “”‘s on everything, overstyling, and on and on.

So what will the next thing be? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I am so promiscuous with the parenthesis. I’ve also gotten bad with hyphens – because they’re really useful when I want to emphasize different clauses. So I feel your pain.

I overuse many, many forms of punctuation, but I like to tell myself that the first step toward fixing the problem is admitting I have said problem. 😉

So what will the next thing be?

Perhaps full-stops within sentences? It’s something that can work but can also get. very. annoying.

Oh, yes, I’ve been there and. done. that. 😉
