vote if you’ve got ’em

Am I wrong in thinking that the American Family Association (“Promoting Traditional Family Values”) is a conservative organization? Because a) I’m on their mailing list, apparently because I took an earlier poll — I think it was one of those attempts to beat the bastards at their own game — and b) John Kerry currently has 90.45% of the vote so far (10,429/11,530), and Ralph Nader is beating George W. So perhaps they’ve been taken over after all.

Go vote if you get the chance! http://www.onlinepolls.net/pollv1/default.aspx?pid=10

I got the same e-mail, presumably thanks to the poll about whether or not gay marriage should be legalized. That would be the poll that the AFA wanted to use to show Congress that a random sampling of Americans, all of whom they figured would be part of their organization, was against gay marriage, yet they claimed the poll was invalid when large numbers of people outside their organization swung the vote the other way. (Er, yeah, you probably knew/remember all of that, but it still pisses me off, and so I ranted.) I think it’s interesting that they don’t seem to have made much effort to track via e-mail address how people voted in that previous poll and then remove subversives like us from the current poll invitation list.

Yeah, I wondered about that, too. I thought maybe this was some test to see if their whole list had been perverted, as in, only the people who vote for Bush will stay on the list.

Well, I think there has to be some percentage of AFA-loyal people who’ve still decided they’d rather support Kerry, but that’s a possibility anyway.
