May I present the sandal that I most want at this moment?
It’s the SoftWalk Tarzana Sandal in “Celery Combo Leather.” Unfortunately, at my size, only the Brown Combo Leather is offered, but it’s pretty cool, too. And woo-hoo for any of them being offered in good old size 12.
I have spent much of the evening perusing the Nordstrom shoe pages, because dear old Nordy’s is one of the few places that has shoes up to and including 12 in women’s. I have found a ton of shoes I like the looks of, including a neat-o pair of blue and orange adidas sneakers that I need to track down:
The problem with all of this is that I need to FIND these shoes in real life and try them on. I’ll order many things online, but so far, shoes I will not… unless they were offering free shipping, in which case I’d order, try on, and return to the store in KC.
The solution to all my troubles, here, would be a neat little trip to KC tomorrow, to try on shoes in the afternoon and then visit my step-mother and nephew in the evening. We’ll see if any of *that* happens.
Had a pretty good weekend with Mom and Maria. We had lunch with the parents de Paolo on Saturday. They’re nice, quite acceptable as almost-almost-in-laws. Last night, Mom and I went to see Mean Girls. It wasn’t a movie that I had really wanted to see — I had it written off as the typical teen comedy, and I’ve somehow stretched my dislike of Hilary Duff over to Lindsay Lohan — but, lo and behold, it was pretty good. The Tina Fey touch, perhaps? Anyway, I’d give it an all-around B or B+ rating. The story had almost the right mix of high school mockery and social try-to-make-sense-of-it-all commentary in most parts, though the end got a little heavy-handed. I also very much enjoyed the cameo appearances by the school buses, hee hee.
Today has been a blur of crankiness, arts and crafts, popcorn, and now an hour and a half spent on the phone laughing about old newspaper stories. Hee hee hee.
