D.C. Trip

People in the D.C. area (excluding you, Karl Rove, I know you’re reading —
you bastard!):

I’m planning a trip to D.C. in January, and I would love to get together
with each and every one of you (again, excluding Mr. Rove). I’ll be in town
from the morning of Jan. 14th through the afternoon of Jan. 19th. I’m not
sure how everyone’s schedule works anymore — I understand many of you have
entered that thing called “the real world,” where there seems to be a lot of
daytime work happening — but if there’s a certain day that you’d be free
for lunch, dinner, a tour of the Spy Museum or, I’m so serious about this,
drunken karaoke, please let me know here or through e-mail. Right now I have nothing
explicitly scheduled, as I only bought the tickets about a day ago, but I’m
truly open to about anything. I’m staying with Brett, somewhere in
Virginia, I think, but I’ve been led to believe that will be convenient to
the Metro, and I am still confident I can find my way around. So… Let me
know? I’ll bring Kansas-y presents.

(I’ll also be in the Amherst, Mass. Area from the 11th to the 14th, but I’m
not sure that I know anyone else up there… do I?)

Woo-hoo, travel! Woo-hoo, winter break! Not woo-hoo to the fact that the
cookie I’m eating tastes strangely like a pickle!

Did you get that cookie at the Burge?

  2. kepkanation says:

No, at the Kansas Union. It was one of the pre-packaged cookies (made somewhere else). Big mistake — should’ve gone for the union-made variety, I guess.

  3. next_bold_move says:

They serve the same prepack ones at the Burge. And they do have an unfortunate pickle taste at times. I don’t buy them anymore, since they seem to be a crime against baked goods.

Random food FTI, while we’re sort of on the topic: There was a Buy One, Get One Free coupon for entrees at Roadside Tacos in Sunday’s LJWorld, if you happen to have one lying around. I’ll save the one I’ve got for you if you’d like, but it expires 11/30.

(obviously I am at work, if I’m reading the paper in THAT much detail)

Hee. I live in the DC Metro area, and as luck would have it, I’ll be on my semester break. A museum crawl would be fabulous…or I could take you to see naked men dancing on a bar. No, really.

  6. kepkanation says:

Hahaha, I’d forgotten all about Wet (I assume that’s the bar you’re thinking of). There are a few strange museum exhibits I’d like to crawl to or at least toward — one at the Folger Shakespeare Library on Letters in the 16th Century and one at the Textile Museum on shawls that actually sounds kind of cool. But if neither of those sounds particularly interesting, I’m always up for mall crawling. Does any particular day (Friday — Tuesday) work well for you?

  7. kepkanation says:

that should read Random Food FYI. I’m a typing genius, I tell you.

I know I’m late, but I would love to see you. I will give you a copy of my “Samples of African Music” mix that I’m making for everyone for Christmas.

  9. kepkanation says:

Oooo African Music sampler. I’ll… crochet you something (did you know I’m 75 now? I have the blue hair to prove it!). Perhaps you, me, and a possible encore viewing of Bottle Rocket (since you suggested it to me, and Brett has never seen it and very much needs to) some evening? Or I could trek just about anywhere for lunch…
