And this made me laugh

On the entertainment front, I did manage to fit in a DVD viewing this weekend, and finally saw Shrek 2. I loved the cat, but I will agree with my sister: it wasn’t quite as good as the first one.

My dad has asked for only one thing for Christmas. He read The Da Vinci Code last year, and then all of the Dan Brown books (Angels and Demons, Deception Point, and Digital Fortress), and now he can’t find anything he likes just as much. Other books he’s enjoyed include one of the Alex Cross books by James Patterson and some Mario Puzo books, so it doesn’t necessarily need to be high art, just a pretty quick read with a good (but somewhat thoughtful) mystery or conflict. Any suggestions? (cross-posted to some book group or other).

Well, if he really liked -The DaVinci Code- he might like -Foucault’s Pendulum-. Though it can be sort of dense, since it’s translated from the Italian…

hopefully you only got to see it once. I saw the original once, and Shrek 2 about 3 times – and wached each of the favorites from the specials

Ah, yes, there was only one viewing of Shrek 2, though we did try out a few different endings to the Far Far Away Idol competition.

I haven’t read either of them, but says that Stone 588, by Gerald A. Browne, is similar to The Da Vinci Code but much better in her opinion.
