First, happy happy birthday to the lovely and talented , without whom I would certainly not be typing here. It’s no understatement to say that knowing her has changed the course of my life; it’s also no understatement to say that she remains one of, if not the, most tolerant and generous people I’ve ever met. Bravo, welcome to new year of fabulousness.
Second: Christmas with my dad (et al) has been finished. Woo-hoo! I’m writing from my step-sister’s family room right now, where I’m tapping in to someone else’s wireless network. Yay. Unlike years past, the parents stuck to the lists we gave them — and Christmas was FABULOUS. I am extremely spolied, and now can add the following things to my life: the new Bob Dylan compilation CDs and the two James Taylor greatest hits CDs; Dodgeball and Spider-Man 2 on DVD; a new 2-qt saucepan with lid and new silverware (great because mine was starting to show rust spots — thanks, IKEA); new pajamas and slippers; and new lotions and a pretty cool bag from Bath & Body Works, along with two very awesome Gift Cards (Best Buy and Barnes & Noble) and a book called 1,000 Things to See Before You Die. My gifts went over well — Maria seems to love her scarf, and Paulo liked the coasters (they also got a silver picture frame with a Jayhawk on it), and Dad seems to be interested in the books I picked out. Jen loved the picture frame I painted (with Maria) at Sunfire Ceramics last week, and everyone got a kick out of the little ball ornaments we gave Jen & Dad — they have Maria’s and my handprints on them, with our names and the date. Heh. The scarf was such a hit that I’ve had a request to make a red one for Lori. Yay new projects!
And now I’m watching Swingers, which I’ve never seen, and eating crackers with cream cheese and raspberry jalepeno sauce. And Diet Pepsi. Mmmmm. Glory be.
