How Awesome Am I?

Pop quiz: How awesome am I? Very awesome. But why? Is it:

a) because I have conquered the scones! And now have six beautiful, perfectly not-sweet-but-not-bitter little diamonds of joy in an air-tight container in my kitchen! Three with blueberries! Wait, two because I ate one.

b) because I have also conquered Rarebit Risotto, a recipe I memorized/stole out of ‘s Moosewood Simple Suppers cookbook? Beer and broth and yumminess. And cheese! And risotto for at least two other meals.

c) because I did these things at the same time?

c.5) because I have also been doing laundry?

d) because I am now sitting outside — outside! it’s so gorgeous — on my very own patio thing in my very own chair (finally out of the car) watching the sun start to sink and it’s so, so nice out.

The lesson here is that I am very awesome. I’m sure many of you are awesome, too, but today, I win. The scone thing alone makes me kind of queen of my own world. I now have to eat them all so I can make more, and this time, I can experiment further. Cinnamon scones! Cranberry scones! Maple scones with nuts! I know at some point they stop being scones and start being cookies in diamond shapes, but… they are so beautiful and I am so happy!

You are totally my hero. You’ll have to tell Greg about the risotto–he’s been on my ass to make it for months. πŸ™‚

Wow you are awsome – but my awsome award today goes to Holly and her 9 minutes of labor!

    Rarebit risotto! That sounds marvelous.

NINE minutes? How the heck did she manage that?

  5. drenilop says:

You are, indeed, awesome. πŸ™‚ Today I am just “some.”

  6. kepkanation says:

It really is! I have a recipe, if you want it. Not too hard to make, that was one of its main features for me. Also the vegetarian part. πŸ˜‰

  7. kepkanation says:

Maybe tomorrow will be my “some” day and you can be awesome! πŸ˜‰

I couldn’t remember the end of the recipe perfectly and so I had to kind of wing it. I almost called you to find out what I was forgetting, but things were moving too quickly!

Heh. That’s risotto for you! I tend to make that a lot in the winter time, but this winter never got cold enough to make me want all my favorite comfort foods.

    9-10 — Office hours
10-11 – Lecture in front of 200 kids on shit I don’t know giving a lecture written mostly by someone else
11-2 — Mad crazy office hours since the kids have a paper due in a week
2-4 — Teach. No clue what I’m discussing in class, since most of what I had is now in the lecture.
    4-6 — Office hours again.
6-7 — Mock oral prelim for a friend
7-9 — Choir rehearsal for Easter, which is next week
9:30 — Get home, collapse, try to start working on the major (30 page) research paper I have due Monday that I haven’t even started yet.

Tomorrow will be lucky to be a ‘some’ day. We’re leaning more toward “so” — since it’s definitely not going to be a ‘me’ day. :-/

I would love the recipe if that offer is open to others!

  12. kepkanation says:

It is! I’m going to see if I can get the actual recipe, and not just the one from my memory, tonight, and then I’ll send it along. πŸ™‚

  13. therealjae says:

Oh, yes, please. I am a big risotto fan.
