My heavy thought for the day is that funny people — witty people — often write the best serious stuff, and in particular, they deal the best with tragedy. The best example of this is Jon Stewart’s show after 9/11/01. The immediate example I’m thinking of is the long list of remembrances at McSweeney’s for author Amanda Davis. I don’t know Davis, didn’t even know her writing, but the funny people… they can always be counted on for the most moving tragic bits.
My light thought for the day: I won’t go see “Snakes on a Plane” in the theater, but I will certainly continue to be amused by it. Defamer has a nice round up. My favorite part? That there have been reshoots so as to include fan favorite lines like “I want these motherfucking snakes off the motherfucking plane!”
