I feel good today. I got some writing done and made some writing decisions. I’ve been reading A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley since last week, and it’s helping me clarify a few issues about voice and description. Also had a nice talk with my dad about things he used to do for fun when he was in high school (“I went to school for fun,” he said, which is one of the best lines ever).
A few other good lines from the day:
- “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, So You Think You Can Dance, and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? The shows end with the answers “Me,” “Not really,” and “Yes.” From “Network Writers Finish the Season Finales of Rival Programs,” a pretty entertaining feature from New York Magazine. Some may be interested to see how the writers of “The Office” would finish out “Friday Night Lights.” Hat tip to Pop Candy for that link.
- “Barack Obama is a Mac, and Hillary Clinton is a PC.” From an article comparing their Web sites (and, really, the candidates themselves) at The New York Times.
